Drought: Today we enter emergency phase 1

Today, Thursday, the decree was published through which the state of emergency 1 due to drought is decreed.  In the same, extraordinary and urgent measures are established to deal with the exceptional situation suffered by Barcelona, ​​among other municipalities.  The decree establishes some restrictions that, at the moment, do not affect the everyday life of our facilities.

For years now, the Club has had a water well with an abundant underground flow coming from the existing aquifers for the collection of rainwater from the Collserola valley.  The clubs neighboring ours also have similar wells, and they are recognized and legalized by the Catalan Water Agency through administrative authorizations that entail the payment of an annual fee.  We have always watered the Club’s courts and vegetation with this non-potable or potable groundwater with the approval of the administration.  This does not rule out that, one day, the Catalan Water Agency will order us to temporarily suspend or reduce the amount of water abstraction established in the administrative authorization.

Although this has not happened, it has been a long time since the Club, and with a purely civic character, has carried out a very small irrigation of the tennis courts to ensure their maintenance and proper functioning of the game.  Likewise, the watering of the vegetation that is done is only that which ensures the survival of plants and trees.  It’s been days since we stopped watering the lawn.  We can do this thanks to the well, since the decree does not allow watering slopes or vegetation with potable water.  Other clubs similar to ours are facing serious difficulties in maintaining the tracks and vegetation.  We will conserve the pool water to be able to use it in the summer.

We also take this opportunity to make a solidarity prayer for you to shower as briefly as possible and to ensure that you close the taps when you open them, in order to save this precious asset that is water.

During the morning, the boys and girls of Laiesport will do the street and different activities and there will be a tent where you can take pictures if you wish.
