RENOWNED WAR PHOTOGRAPHER RICARDO GARCÍA VILANOVA WILL PRESENT A CONFERENCE AT CE LAIETÀ
CE Laietà will host an exceptional conference on December 10th at 7 pm, led by Ricardo García Vilanova, one of the most acclaimed war photojournalists in the international scene.
With over 25 years documenting armed conflicts around the world, García Vilanova is a leading figure in graphic journalism. His career includes prestigious milestones such as a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize and winning the World Press Photo award, a recognition achieved by only a very small number of professionals in Spain.
His photographs have been published in major media outlets, including Life, Newsweek, Time, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Le Monde, Liberation, Paris Match, The Guardian, The Times, Die Welt, Der Spiegel and Stern, among others.
As a freelance video journalist, he has worked for outlets such as CNN, BBC, France24, Aljazeera, Channel 4, VICE, PBS and Euronews.
His name is also known to the general public due to the episode in 2013, when he and journalist Javier Espinosa were kidnapped while trying to leave the Syrian war — a widely reported incident that fortunately ended with their release.
During his talk at Laietà, the photographer will share first-hand insights, experiences and reflections on his work in conflict zones, offering both a privileged and raw perspective on war and the role of photojournalism.
The event is open to members and anyone interested in photography, journalism and international affairs.

PADEL FOR EVERYONE LAUNCHES OFFICIAL HOODIES
At CE Laietà, we want to thank Aboca, Ceinsa and Esplugues City Council for making the new hoodies of the “Padel per Tothom” project possible.
We are delighted to announce that participants in our Padel per Tothom initiative are now wearing their new official hoodies. More than just clothing, they represent identity, belonging and pride in being part of a project committed to genuine inclusion.
We extend our sincere gratitude to ABOCA, CEINSA and Esplugues City Council for supporting this milestone. We also recognise the involvement of the club’s vice president, Paco Díaz; the social representative, Àlex Sala; Josep Capell (Ceinsa); Salvatore Gargano (Aboca); the padel section director, Marcela Ferrari; the Padel per Tothom project director, Yolanda Mirabete; and program coach Nieves Mirabete. Their commitment strengthens our mission — to make sport a social, transformative tool that offers real opportunities for everyone.

This Christmas, CE Laietà will take part in a wonderful and supportive initiative: the Toy Donation Campaign promoted by Bombers Solidaris (Solidarity Firefighters), ensuring that no child is left without a gift this holiday season.
How can you collaborate?
From December 1st to 12th, we invite all members to bring a new, non-violent and non-sexist toy.
You may leave it at Member Services to ensure a smooth and convenient donation.
Every toy counts. Together, we can help many children enjoy a happier Christmas.
The big solidarity event – December 12th
On Friday, December 12th, from 4 pm to 8 pm, we will hold a special afternoon at the Club in collaboration with Bombers Solidaris.
What will you find?
– Firefighters showing their intervention equipment and allowing children to experience what it is like to be a firefighter for a day.
– Sale of solidarity toys (memory games, cooperative games, etc.).
For every toy sold, Bombers Solidaris will donate another toy to the campaign.
A fun, family-friendly and 100% supportive afternoon to share the best Christmas spirit.

PADEL TEAM MEETINGS FOR THE 2026 SEASON
Next week, we will hold meetings with all players who completed the form to participate in padel teams for the 2026 season.
These sessions provide an opportunity to explain how the teams work, resolve questions and start preparing for the new season with enthusiasm and commitment. They will also be a chance to get to know teammates with whom you will share competitions and training.
– Wednesday, December 10th at 7:30 pm: Meeting with all male players, downstairs in the TV room.
– Thursday, December 11th at 7:30 pm: Meeting with all female players, downstairs in the TV room.
We encourage everyone to attend, as these meetings are important for team organisation and for starting the season with energy and cohesion.
